| G2G: Gene Expression DB to Gene Expression DB |
Description
G2G is a prototype system that enables distributed data
queries for gene expression databases. It uses the
Peer-to-Peer
metaphor of equal peers sharing data amongst one
another. Since it proposes to use a centralized directory
server, it is not truly a peer-to-peer system. G2G is an
open protocol, but it is currently only implemented by
GeneX. In the future, we will coordintate the development of
G2G with the upcoming
Moby
protocol work, so that G2G will simply be one service
available via the Moby framework.
Implementation and Availability
G2G is has been implemented in the Genex-2.x development
branch of Genex, and is not currently available for public
use.
Anyone wishing to help develop the G2G protocol is welcome
to participate. Please joing the
GeneX mailing list
to discuss the G2G protocol iteself, or the
the MGED Queries mailing list
to discuss issues about G2G's query language.
