GeneX

Description

This page is provided to help people see where the GeneX project is headed over the short term and the long term. We are including a list of all groups currently funding the projects, and we invite those groups to include timelines that indicate what there development goals are.

Some of the groups funding GeneX are:

• The National Science Foundation, which has awarded the project two grants:
  • The Virginia Bioinformatics Institute at Virginia Tech
  • The National Center for Genome Resources
• The Virginia Bioinformatics Institute at Virginia Tech , funded through Virginia Tech ASPIRES program
• The Virginia Bioinformatics Consortium , funded by the state of Virginia.

The ASPIRES grant to VBI

In Dec '01, the ASPIRES program awarded VBI a grant of ~$27k to build a generic data loading tool for the GeneX DB. The timelines for this project can be viewed here (MS Word) (PDF).

The NSF grant to VBI

In Jan '02, the NSF awarded VBI a three year grant of ~$750 to add a number of improvements to the GeneX DB. The project description in the grant can be viewed here (MS Word) (PDF), and the revised description of the deliverables can be viewed here (MS Word) (PDF).

The NSF grant to NCGR

There is currently no public timeline for this group, but there is a public description of the grant.
